3rd January 2011

The first Monday in 2011 but not the first working Monday as it is a Bank Holiday which is nice as we have time to take the christmas tree out and take the decorations down. I know that we are taking them down early and not on the 12th day but once the kids are back at school and we are back at work the time in the evenings just disappear with tea, baths and bedtime.

These two new tree decorations are our new addition for Xmas 2010, as you can see they have Alfie and Polly's name on them. These were given to them as a gift, as Alfie was an usher and Polly was a flower girl for Uncle Alan and Jenny who got married in Milton Keynes on the 28th December. A very good idea for a nice keep sake to remind them of the lovely day in which we all shared with Alan and Jenny.

It is always so much quicker taking the tree and decorations down than it is putting them up and it always seems very sad as is marks the end of the festive time. Our tree did very well this year it has not dropped much at all, good news for the hoover and we will not be finding pine needles in the carpet for weeks to come! (We hope)

The decorations are off the tree, the cards are down and the old tinsel has been thrown away as it has seen better days and I have purchased some new silver tinsels in the sales, which has been my only sale purchase in 2011, so far. (Honest)

How bare does the house look at this time of year, you get so used to the christmas decorations being up then you get back to normal and everywhere seems so bare and empty. Listening to the radio the other day and the presenter mentioned that he buys loads of daffidils and fills the house with them which brightens the house up for not much money and little effort. I must do this as this sounds a good idea some nice fresh flowers with a refreshing smell and a zing of colour the house.
