28th February 2011

The last day of February 2011!     So how many days left until Christmas 2011?
10 Months
300 Days
Another wet and dull morning, just what the kids need for their first day back at school. The kids are up and sort of ready for school with their lunch boxes and book bags sorted all it needs is for Alfie to get dressed!

Shoes for today:  Strappy calf leather and elastic "Matador" sandal, Jerome C Rousseau, 2010

Very odd looking and i bet they are not very comfortable!

Loving the new album from Adele called Adele 21 i have her first album which was good also.
Read in the news that at the moment she is top of the singles and album charts. Thats good going!

Just ordered the new album from Jessie J on Amazon, due to the demand of her music she had to bring the release date forward and her uk tour has already sold out, for a new artist that must give them a great buzz!

Awaiting for Clare Mcguire's album which also was released today lets hope that is in the post already from Amazon. People keep telling me to download albums but i prefer to have the CD i guess its just what you are used to!

The news today is full of the Oscar Awards which took place last in Los Angele's. The Best Film went to "The Kings Speech"  with star actor Colin Firth, who won for Best Actor. We have not seen this film yet we will have to look out for it at the cinema or it will be out before long on CD and on Sky, and these are both cheaper options than the cinema these days!

Just had an email from LoveFood .com saying about Cheese Myths. I heard that one about eating cheese before bedtime gives you nightmares, but according to recent studies it has shown that cheese can actual reduce stress and induce sleep.

Got home and my new CD has arrived great i can listen to it tomorrow while doing the housework!

Its 8.05pm and the kids are in bed asleep they were both very tired today after there first day back at school with afterschool club as well. Alfie had football training this evening but they came home very cold.

Alfie decided tonight that he wants a few friends to come round and play on the Wii and then go to lunch at Top Wok after. Its a bit short notice but i hope that his friends can make it!

Just watching One Born Every Minute and they are showing a couple of the woman having a c-section, which brings back some painful memories just watching them having there spinal block injections is making feel funny, but the dicomfort was taken away with the joy of seeing the little bundles of joy which were Alfie 8 years ago on the 6th March and Polly on the 1st Sept 2005.

27th February 2011

Last day of the holidays and the kids are back to school tomorrow!

Woke up with a little bit of a headache and a dodgy tummy this morning. Headache could be the cider not sure why tummy playing up? Going to have a lazy day!

Looking outside and it is turning very grey and before long it is raining, again. Looking in the garden and i noticed that there were some snowdrops in the garden and some of my plants in the pots were flowering. A little bit of colour at last.

Galanthus (Snowdrop; Greek gála "milk", ánthos "flower")Galanthus (Snowdrop; Greek gála "milk", ánthos "flower")

Phil went to get the kids from mum and dad's house so i started the ironing ready for tomorrow. I cooked a lovely roast beef for dinner, then Polly and I made some cards with a craft set she had, she also did a letter for Jude on the computer who she loves at school!

Alfie did his homework which was to do a poor persons menu and a rich persons menu from the Tudor times!

The days nearly over its 6.30pm the kids are playing Deal or No Deal and we are watching Lets Dance for Comic Relief which we recorded last night. Noel Fielding as Kate Bush & Jarrad Christmas as Madonna were really good, but who will win???

James and Clarlie with their tap dancing and Noel Fielding with Kate Bush went through to the final in two weeks time.

Just catching up with Come Dine with Me from earlier (i love watching this programme). We are running out of room on Sky Plus as we have a lot of films to watch and the kids have films which they have put a keep on which soon take up alot of space!

26th February 2011

Another wet start, its still pouring outside when Phil took Polly to Stagecoach, left me to tidy up but so far only hoovered as been sitting on the computer for the last hour. Its 10.00am so best log off and go and have a shower before they return as still in my PJ's naughty me!

Sorted clothes out alot of ironing to do before Monday i will make a start on it tomorrow can not be bothered today naughty me again!

Alfie popped home for about 10 minutes to pick up his goodie bag for tonights sleepover and his FIFA 11 game for the playstation and then went back to nans house. I walked back with him as he wanted to show me the Aliens that he brought yesterday. They are horrible they live in yucky sticky stuff and they grow babys, odd things, they can stay at nan and grampys house or they could get throwed away here!

Polly wanted to go swimming so Phil took her to the fun splash at Risborough while i went to Tesco's shopping, one day i will get the shopping to below £100 and that is with no treats, just the boring same old foods.

Got to watch Polly swimming and having fun in the pool with the floats and jumping in the deep end with Phil, but the most impressive thing she did, was to swam a full length of the pool which is 25 meters without stopping and putting her feet down, WELL DONE Polly mummy and daddy are very proud of you keep the swimming up.

Phil and i are off out tonight in Chinnor to celebrate Karen's 40th Birthday. Must remember to take my camera but also i must not drink to much! Well i will try!

Had a great evening with Karen and Mark like old times, as its been a while since we have been out with them. I was very good and only had three pints of Thatchers Cider not to bad i think, well put it this way i was not drunk i can remember getting home unlike Karen who could not getting home in the taxi and was a little ill, hope you feel better tomorrow girlie! Must do that again , lets not leave it so long next time! xxx

25th February 2011

Friday already!

Had a nice lay in and a cup of tea in bed, thanks Phil! Me and Alfie cuddled up in bed for a while this morning as Polly had stayed at Ella's house so Alfie took this opportunity to watch some sport in peace, it was a spot of cricket.

Alfie went around to Nan's house this morning as he wanted to go shopping with her,he emptied his money box and found 5 pound coins so he took that to spend, something about some Aliens in the £1 shop!

We were having visitors today my cousin Rachel and Autumn were coming to us as we have not seen them since Christmas, they only live in Thame but lifes are so busy with work and children we always struggle to meet up, but we said today that we will not leave it so long and i promise i will make more of an effort to meet you in Thame on a Tuesday morning for a Coffee or Tea in my case.

Picked them up at 11.30 then went to pick Polly up from Ella's so they had a play at Ella's until 1.00 which was nice as we had time to chat with Lousie! I had not been shopping so my cupboards were a bit empty so the kids decided that they wanted some sausages and chips from the chip shop, by this time it was 1.30 and they closed a 1.45 so we got there just in time. They all did very well Ella, Autumn and Polly with their dinner, and thanks for Autumn for choosing them some lovely biscuits, Phil is just eating one now which was left over (7.45pm).

Polly had Miss Denise dance class today due to it not being on last week, so they had a good play on the Wii then played doctors and nurses in Polly's bedroom before it was time for dance and Ella and Autumn were ready to go home.

Thanks so much to Rachel and Autumn for coming to play today it was great to see you both and it so nice to catch up with you Rach, love you lots and keep smiling and laughing! googlemail.cum what you like!

Sent Polly's passport renew form off today which should be plenty of time for it to return before she goes away with nan and gramp to France in the Easter Holidays, but £49 for a 5 year childs passpoort seems alot but good job we only had one to do, ours still have a few years on them! Was not sure how it post it so sent it Recorded Delivery through the post office which cost £5 to send but i guess its best to make sure it gets there!

Polly is just watching Barbie Rapenzel on sky then it will be off to bed as Ella said she did not go to sleep until 10.30pm last night and she woke up this morning at 7.30am she is not doing to bad, but Polly is one of these children that will keep going and going and going. Louise said that they nearly phoned us last night to find out how to shut Polly up as she did not stop talking all evening, i know tell us about, she is a little chatabox, but she does make us laugh with some of the comments she come out with and we love her dearly and its best to be heard than not!

Started watching 'The Promise' from channel 4 last night we are well behind watched the first one last night only 3 more to go but so far its really good but they are one and half longs!

Its 11pm and caught the end of the Graham Norton show and i love the song from Jessie J which she song on it last night http://www.jessiejofficial.com/video.php I might just have to pre order her album which comes out on Monday 28th Feb.

Got to bed at 11.30 and it is pouring with rain outside, but there is something nice about being snuggled up in a warm bed when the rain is lashing on the windows, its not nice for the poor homeless people, good for ducks but the noise is very soothing! Good Nightxxxx

24th February 2011

Woke up today in Alfie's bed, with the sun shining through a crack in the curtins. It looks like it could be a nice day today which is good as Alfie and Polly have sports club today so at least they will be able to go outside and play games instead of staying in the hall.

Phil aways gets up first and he went to have shower and there was no cold water, great so we filled the bath up with a little bit hot water then let it cool for a bit before having a small wash, but could not wash my hair so it feels horrible. Not a good start to the day lets just hope it is not off for to long.

On Radio 1 they are supporting the Comic Relief trekkers. There is a group of celeb walking across the desert for 5 days rasing money for comic relief. I have done my bit and have texted Desert to 70011 five times which  gives £1 each time. The kids are also doing something on Red Nose day so they will be taking money also, all little helps so everybody should just give a £1 to show their support.

Phil was happy this morning, as for the past week one of our home phones have been missing, some little person had hidden it! Polly kept telling us it was in Alfie's room but we could not find it, we phoned it but the battery was flat so that didn't help. But this morning Phil was looking around in Polly's bedroom and he found it hidden in one of her cupboards. Polly keeps doing this, hiding things then forgetting where she has put them, my watch went missing for nearly 2 years and i found it just before christmas she was playing with one of my old handbags and i got it out to use one day and their was my watch, the same with my slippers they  disappeared at christmas i thought that i had got rid of them with the paper on christmas day, but no this morning Phil found them under Alfie's bed, so he did well this morning.

Shoes for today: Black pump with gold netting overlay, Maud Frizon, 1984-1990.

Popped out at lunch time for some bottled water just in case it is not on when we get home. The weather is lovely outside in the say's that it is 14 degrees, to nice to be inside. Hope everybody on school holiday is enjoying this weather as it will change before you know it.

Polly has been invited to Ella's house tonight for a sleepover she is going to be over the moon when i tell her.

All we are hearing on the news today is about petrol prices may be going again due to all the problems in Libya it will cost us all a fortune to just fill up one tank of petrol and that does not last long. On the news they did mention about alot of people are driving slower to save on petrol, they say over 1 year you could save up to £500. We best all get our bikes and walking shoes out!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12563063

Got home and Polly and Alfie were already in their pj as they got muddy at sports club, good job that the water had come back on this afternoon.

Polly went up to Ella's in her Pj's with a bag of clothes for tomorrow and her DS'i as Ella has one also!

Took a card to Karen who is 40 today Happy Birthday Girlie hope you had a great day!xx

Alfie in bed and watching Holby City from Tuesday then off to bed as knackered glad it's Friday tomorrow and Rachel and  Autumn are coming to Chinnor for a visit and  a play which will be great as not seen them for awhile.

23rd February 2011

I would just like to say thanks to Doddy for a nice evening last night, good idea of yours to go the The Crows Nest it was really nice and made a change and we were both healthyish meals!

Today has not got off to a good start. ALFIE ALFIE ALFIE please listen and do as you are told was all i could hear from up stairs this morning while i was getting ready for work. Then all hell broke loss i wish Alfie would just listen and understand that he can not always get his own way all the time. When i left both Alfie and Polly were crying Good Luck mum and dad, try and get throught to Alfie about not getting his own way all the time!!

And to add to that it is a very nasty day, damp foggy and cold! Just what you need to cheer you up for the day ahead, not!

Shoes for today: Red LEather Victorian barrette boot with jet beading, United States, 1870.

Lunch time already were has the morning gone?

Kids had a good day with nan and gramp they were taken to Whizz Kids which they both enjoyed, Alfie played football and Polly played with Jess.

Alfie and Polly were in bed for 8.30 so we managed to catch up on watching Outcasts which is on a Monday evening at 9pm but we had got a bit behind, but now its 11pm and we are up to date ready for next Monday's episode. Off to bed!

21st February 2011

Half term and its typical it is raining!

Shoes for today are: Green silk "Rix" pump with velvet cut-out detail, Sophie Gittins, 2009.

Not sure about these, i think its the colour that is putting me off!
Alfie and Polly are at a sports club today which is held at the Kingston Blount Hall, they both love it they do all sorts of sports. They also get to team up and communicate with other children from different schools which i think is a good social skill for them to learn at this age.

Another day at work and nothing changes just another Monday at work!

Alfie and Polly had a good day at sports club today which is good as they are booked into go on Thursday also. You know what half term is like only a couple of days they start to get fed up and bored with each others company, which is when they start arguing and fighting so going to the sports club breaks up the week for them. Its not to bad cost wise they charge £12 per day per child, it runs from
9-3pm.

Thanks to Jane for helped me decided what i was going to have for tea as i had some Lamb steaks but i did not know what to do with them and she suggested i coat them in mint sauce and rub in salt and pepper then grill for 10 minutes. This was very tasty thanks Jane we had them with jacket potato and salad, very nice and quite healthy!

20th February 2011

Phil had been talking about going to London on the train to the Sealife Aquarium and Madam Tussauds.

We got up and Phil checked the train times, which was good as all the trains from Princess Risborough to Marylebone were not running due to them working on the line. Great so what do we do now?

Polly and Alfie were looking forward to going so we drove Amersham train station and got a tube direct into Baker Street on the Metropolitan line, we then changed to the Jubilee line which took us to Waterloo which is were we got off and walked to Sealife which is situated on the River Thames right next to the London Eye.

On the way there were lots of the street entertainers along the walkway. They are all so good but how can you stand still for that long without fall over? Polly and Alfie were not sure what to make of them as they were like statues until you put some money into their pot and they started moving which to start with Polly found a bit strange and would not have her photo taken with them.

I wonder how much money they actual make standing there in the freezing cold weather?

The kids loved the aquarium, the best bit was the shark walk were you walk over a glass window which looks down onto the shark tank, so you could see them swimming around below, Alfie was fasinated with it Polly was a little unsure about walking over the glass but was ok when holding Phils had.

We left Sealife and as the weather was not great, it was cold and it was raining a little there was no queue for the London Eye so we decided to have a ride on that also, which was amazing, could not see much of London due to it being very misty, we will have to come back in the summer when you can see for miles, but it was good and the kids had fun waving to the pods below and watching the boats up and down the river.

By the time we got off the London Eye it was gone 4.15pm so we made our way back to Baker Street for some tea before we went home. We were going to leave Madam Tussauds for another day but again there was not queue so we decided to go in and have alook around.

They have changed it alot since i last visited which was about 10 years ago, it was great as you could actual get to stand by the famous figures and have your photo taken with them. Polly was not sure as they looked very realistic and she thought they would start moving like the street entertainers did. But she soon got used to them and then wanted her photo with everybody from Miley Cyrus to David Beckham!

Kids wanted a McDonalds before coming home so we had some tea then went to Baker Street train station to wait for the next train direct to Amersham which was 6.41pm.

The train we got on was a quick one which did not stop at every stop so we got back to Amersham at 7.30 then home for 8.10pm. Alfie got a bit peckish on the train and eat a Double Choco Muffin from McDonalds bit a little to big for him to handle!

19th February 2011

Shoes for the weekend, well they are actual boots for the weekend and how nice they are, i could see myself  in these, dancing the night away! I wish, i'm in bed by 10.30pm how could i ever go out clubbing like we used to until the early hours and still get up for work the next day!
Snakeskin-embosed leather ankle boots, Calvin Klein, 2009.

Today we have stagecoach, then take the library books back so we dont get fined, then this afternoon Phil is taking Alfie to Wycombe Wanders with my works season tickets and i am taking Polly to see Justin Beiber, Never Say Never film at the cinema.
Made sure that the boys were wrapped up warm for football as it was raining a little but the seats are under cover so it should not be too bad.

We all had a good afternoon Polly and I enjoyed the film and Alfie and Phil enjoyed the football even Wycombe did loss against Accrington Stanley 1-2. Come on Wycombe!!
wycombe_wanderers.gif

As the kids had been good they were treated to a Chinese from Top Wok in Risborough. It was very tasty, thanks Phil! xx

18th February 2011

Friday here already and it is the end of term, where has the last 7 weeks gone?

Shoes for today: "Frontpage" double-platform peep-toe with multitonal bow, Stuart Weitzman, 2009.

Polly went off to school this morning wearing her recycled outfit not sure how long it will stay on as she has trouble sitting down in it. Alfie just wear his football shirt from last year!

Went to the end of term assembly this morning and Polly still had her outfit on, all of Foundation Class 1 had done really well with their dressing up in recycled products. It was funny because as the classes got older the pattern was that the less children had dressed up!

No dancing with Miss Denise tonight but it is on next week in half term, i am writing this on my blog so i  hopefully will not forget!

Polly is not to upset as there is a school disco tonight due to the one at christmas being cancelled, the only pain is that Polly's is 6pm to 7.15 and then Alfie's is 7.30 until 9.00pm and he can stay on his own I think , but not sure whether he wants to go, he will have to decided before to tonight.

Polly was invited to Charlotte and Grace's house after school and they were all going to get ready for the disco together and i was told to pick her up there later, you would think that they were teenagers but no they are only 5 years old, i am not looking forward to what it is going to be like when they are older if they are like this now! HELP!

Alfie decided not to go to the disco as he would miss out on staying at nan and gramps house and as they have been away he wanted to stay with them rather than go to the disco.

Had a very productive evening once we got Polly to bed, we decided to book our 2011 holidays. We are not normally this organised, but we have booked to go to Lanzarote, Costa Teguise in the May Spring Holidays for a week.  http://www.sandsbeach.eu/  Then we have booked the Eurotunnel to Mum and Dad's house in France for the first two weeks of the summer holidays. We normal fly but this year we are going to drive, not sure what we have let ourselves in for, but what is 10 hours in the car door to door!

How exciting lots to look forward to this year guess i best stick to my health eating plan!!!!!! I will do my bestxxxxx

17th February 2011

When checking my emails last night i had forgotten about the kids having to go in muffty tomorrow with the theme of recycling I am terrible when it comes to doing things like this. Asked Alfie he said he was just going to go to school in normal clothes, but Polly wants to make a costume, great what do i do?

Well, i have printed off the recycling logo's and i am collecting some bottle tops, sweet wrappers and crisp packets from work, we will have to attached them to an old piece of clothing or i have a clear sack which we can stick and sow things on which she can wear over her clothes. Why do i not get organised sooner rather than the night before!

Shoes for today: Scalloped wood platform Bonnie Smith, 1972-76. A little strange, i was born in 1973 so these were the sort of shoes that my mum was wearing, not so sure about that, cannot imagine her wearing these out, and not sure how comfortable they would be!

Today is turning out to a be nice sunny day, just finished lunch and the sun is beaming through the blinds into our office, i guess we should make the most of it as it is reported to change come the weekend, and i bet as it is half term the weather will be wet, wet, wet next week!

Looking at February on our work calendar and it is a lovely cottage set in the Penberth Clove in Cornwell, it looks perfectly peaceful.

Polly keeps going on about seeing JLS on stage so i have managed to book us some tickets to see JLS at the Milton Keynes Staduim on Friday 8th July, how happy is she going to be, and i'm very pleased to as they are a good band, cannot wait. Polly was so excited when i told her but i said she had got to be good until then, ha ha what a joke!

Nice bodies JLS!!!

Got home and cooked some tea, then off to make Polly's outfit for school tomorrow with all the recycled crisp packets and sweet wrappers from work. She looked really good and thanks to Jane she wanted to make a handbag from the laminated recycled logos.

16th February 2011

Driving to work today in the fog was a nightmere all i was doing was dodging the pot holes, the roads are so bad again, get it sorted Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire council.

Shoes for today: Suede ankle boots with geometric wood and resin wedge heel, Diego Dolcini, 2009.
They look nice but not sure that they would be very comfortable to walk far in!

Its 11.00am and it is turning out to be a nice clear and bright day, so far, just had a satuma but it was very dry so that went in the bin, i'm trying to be good but that puts me off fruit when they are like that!

Listening to Radio 2 this morning and this song which i like keeps coming on but i keep missing who sings it, but today i was in the room and they said who sang it at the end of the song instead of at the beginning. The songs is 'The Last Dance' and it's sung by Clare Mcguire who i have never heard of but i have ordered her album off of Amazon which is being released on the 28th February. Thanks Radio 2 for putting me out of my misery to who sings this song!

I'm gutted, they have been talking about My Big Fat Gipsy Wedding at work which i missed on TV last night due to Phil watching the football, i will have to look out for it, as they always show it more than once or i will have to watch it online! Its a bizarre programme to watch but it is interesting to see how they live and its know wonder they can afford these massive weddings!!!

Its so nice driving home from work in the daylight, i hate it when you go to work in the dark and you then come in the dark.

Got home at 5.45pm as delivered my last few avon orders, thanks mum and dad for sorting the kids out as they were both eating tea. Phil is out tonight so i will have my super noodles later!

Its 7.00 the kids are ready for bed and they are actual sitting nicely and Alfie is helping Polly sound out words from his old tricky word book, this is music to my ears, why can it not be like this all the time!

Polly will be well ahead with Alfie giving her home tutoring. What a thought Alfie never listens but he is good at helping Polly undersand the sounds by using Phonics which is how they teach them to read and write in Mill Lane School.

I then took some photos of Polly against a plain background for her passport photo but she got the giggles, but we got there eventually!

Managed to book a service engineer to come and look at the washing machine door, but not until Tues of next week so the clothes will have to stay in their until then its just a good job that it was drying and not being washed. But thanks to mum for doing my washing today, maybe just a few more loads to keep us going until next, lets just hope that they can fix it or it could be a few more!

Phil ordered a new tent from Argos last week which came yesterday, but when he looked online this morning it was £30 cheaper so he called Argos and they are sending us vouchers for the difference, see it does pay to speak up, if you dont ask you dont get!

Just checked on the TV guide and 'The Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' is being repeated tonight at 10.35 so i have set sky to record it. Great i can watch that on Friday along with Holby City from last night.

The news is depressing so off to bed!
