15th March 2011

Had a lovely day today thanks to a best friend who i have known and kept in contact with since we were at Lord Williams School in Thame, when we both started there at 11/12 years old which is around 26 years ago.

Blimey Doddy has it been that long? Even though Doddy has moved about with her many colleage and university courses that she has done we have always kept in touch with each other, may be a phone call or a visit to her current place of studying. Then when she paid her parents a visit who still live in Thame, we used to meet up for a drink or two.

But she is currently living and working in Aylesbury teaching Art to 11-16 year olds (she is so brave) so we see each other more regularly which is really nice.

Doddy has been unwell for a few weeks so she has been signed off work so on my days off i have been paying her a visit. Yesterday she came over to see her parents so we meet up and had a spot of lunch and did a bit of shopping in Thame. Which was nice but it tired her out as she is still not 100%.
She brought a lovely painting for her sitting room from a new shop that has just opened in Thame. It was very nice and had all the colours to match her colour scheme in her flat.

We had a lovely lunch in The Six Bells in Thame which has recently been done up so the menu was new and different i had a brie and beetroot and rocket sandwich and Doddy had a Goats cheese and roasted pepeer toasted sandwich. Mine was very nice thanks very much Doddy.

Took Polly swimming but it was so warm by the pool side we had to move out why does it have to be so warm in there?

Went out with friends from work tonight, meet them in Wycome at 7pm but was a little bit late due to Phil getting caught up at work. We had a couple of games bowling which was great fun and we all had a laugh being split into two teams Pete, Langton, Tim and Me on one team and Michelle, Sue, Debbie and Steve on the other. A far split until Langton and Pete had to much to drink and they lost the art of playing and knocking down the pins. But all in all we all had a good evening even Martha who did not bowl just in case she hurt her back as she has ongoing problems with it, but she was playing games on Langton's phone which kept her happy and quiet!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE BROTHER WHO IS 31 TODAY

A pleasant drive to work this morning as the sun was shining again.

Shoes for today: Suede and metallic leather " Marisa" pump with brass heel cap, Chrissie Morris, 2009.

Did not get on to well with giving up drink for lent and all in all had a bad week last week on food and drink altogether. So this is a new week and a new challenage eat healthly, not have any drink and chocolate for as long as possible! How long will it last?

I always struggle with what to get for tea every evening as i am not very organised. I wish i had somebody to cook me tea everynight so i would not have to think about what to eat and cook, it would just be put in front of me for me to enjoy and eat. Yum Yum what a thought! I need my own personnel healthy cook like the stars have.

Alfie went off to football training with Phil, me and Polly came home and sorted dinner out. She had hot dog sauages and pasta, i put some jacket potatoes in the oven for mine and Phil's tea, how exciting!

Alfie got home and played on his DSi for a while but it turned into a nightmare of an evening as Alfie did not want to go to bed, so we had a little fit on our hands. The trouble is that he gets tired and that is when he starts to get a bee in his bonnet and then gets upset and silly, but Phil managed to calm him down and he was asleep straightaway.

So we are now catching up with the last part of Outcasts on BBC, not sure how it is going to end? Another one of those BBC series with an odd ending, why do we get into watching these programmes!

13th March 2011

This time last week it was Alfie's birthday, where has this week gone!

Off to football in the rain to Downley. What joy! Must wrap up warm and get the umbrellas at the ready.

Not a good start to the day as Alfie's football did not go very well they lost both games, due to a very poor selection by the team manager! This does not help the boys as they get very upset and think that they are playing crap and rubbish which were the words which came out of Alfie's mouth. This was all down to poor leadership and organising as usuals, but today it must have got to Phil as he actual said something to the Manager! The trouble is that this put Phil in a bad mood all day.

We had a lazy and relaxing afternoon we watched Astro Boy on sky plus while eating some Popcorn which i think i burnt a bit as to long in the microwave, but they still ate it with no complaining so it could not have been that bad!

It tunred out to a nice day later on so the kids went out and played football on the green outside with Phil, then it was tea time, bath time, then bed time. Both alseep by 8.15 which was nice a we had time to watch a film which i recorded the other day called ' Dear John' which was based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. I have borrowed the book from the library but have not yet got round to reading  it yet and it was due back yesterday which i forgot about so will have a fine to pay!

12th March 2011

Saturday is here again. Phil, Alfie and Polly made pancakes due to them not having them on Pancake Day. They were very nice with Honey which had a hint of Blueberries which Phil bought home from work.

Polly went off to stagecoach with Phil and i took Alfie around to my mum's as she was taking Alfie shopping for his birthday.

I popped into Wycombe to make an appointment for Phil and Alfie to have their eyes tested. Alfie's teacher thinks that he can not see the black board from the back of the room so suggested that we get his eyes tested, but this is not the first time as last year his previous teacher said that he puts one hand over his eye when he is reading, but they were tested and they were fine. Best to check them again just in case as i wear glasses all the time! Phil is just having trouble reading things up close!

Had a nice walk around Wycombe, got a few bits from Primark for the kids, socks, tights and Pj's etc.

Treated myself a couple of CD's Cee-lo Green, The Lady Killer and Rihanna, Loud.  Only listened a couple of tracks of the Cee- lo Greens CD while doing my ironing before Lets Dance for Comic Relief comes on, but so far the reviews are right he has a great voice and is a very talented singer.
"A voice of such beauty and longing that it takes your breath away.... an album of incredible beauty and power." this is the review from the Sunday Times

Was pleased that the Tap Dance Act with James Thornton and funny-man Charlie Baker won the Lets Dance for Comic Relief as they were very good and must have put alot of work into the tap dance routine.

Shoes of today: Patent Leather topstitched "Eagle's Eye" platform Stiletto, Jan Jansen 2010.
Not sure about these!

Had a really lovely day my nan came down as usually. Then Doddy came over for a drive out as she is still not well. We took my nan out to lunch at The Crown in Chinnor, which was very busy but it was nice to see Doddy and to see her eat something and enjoy it, i just hope that she was ok later on!

Watching the news this morning with nan while having a cup of tea.  A special news report was on TV showing the terrible earthquake and Tsumami that had hit Japan that morning. Whole villages had been wiped out dut to the Tsumani coming in from the sea bring large waves which covered the land. This earthquake recorded 8.9 on the scale which was the worst earthquake recorded for 150 years.

The pictures look horrific and all those lives lost due to another natural disater which is out of everbodies hands. My nan said that it is God giving us a sign to stop all the bad things in the world and to stop all this fighting!  Bless her!

9th March 2011

A lovely drive into work with sun shinning, even if i did have to sit at West Wycombe for 10 minutes due to the traffic being a nightmear this morning.

Shoes of the day: White leather pump with delicate needlepoint design, Italy 1960.

These look very nice but a little to white for me!

Good day and evening as Tottenham went through to the last eight of the Champions League which made Phil very happy!  Well Done Tottenham can you go all the way?

8th March 2011

Today is a lovely sunny spring morning. The sky is blue and the sun is shinning bright, still a bit chilly but today is how spring should be!

Listen to Clare Maguire while doing my housework and sorted out my avon. Delivered some of my avon orders and popped to Thame for a stop of shopping.

I love it when you can put the washing on the line to dry, the washing smells lovely and fresh from blowing in the breeze! All i need to do now is make the bed, not a job i enjoy!

When picking Alfie and Polly from school some children were coming out eating Pancakes. I had forgotten its Shove Tuesday or Pancake Day as we know it. Oh dear we have parents evening tonight so will have to have our pancakes another day when Phil is home from work on time or at the weekend because him and Polly have got the art of cooking pancakes perfectly. Alfie enjoys his with honey and Polly just coats hers in butter!

What is Shove Tuesday or Pancake day?
In the UK, Shrove Tuesday is also known as Pancake Day (or Pancake Tuesday to some people) because it is the one day of the year when almost everyone eats a pancake.
Pancake Day ( also known as Shrove Tuesday) is the last day before the period which Christians call Lent. It is traditional on this day to eat pancakes.
Lent is a time of abstinence, of giving things up. So Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge yourself, and to use up the foods that aren't allowed in Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, butter and eggs which were forbidden during Lent.

I guess i should be giving something up for Lent, the good old chocolate, alcohol, crisps, cheese, but i dont think i could last until Easter Sunday which is 40 days away not including sundays. What would be the easiest thing to give up for me ??????? I will let you know how i am getting on with each of these items, best have a drink tonight with my nice cheesy pasta bake for tea with a chocolate bar for afters!

The dreaded parents evening! Polly is getting on fine very strong minded, really i would never had said  that!!! ha ha only joking, she is very kind and she is Mrs Gordens little helper. She is trying very hard with her reading and learning how to sound out words and then trying to spell them out along with her very expressive drawings. Alfie is alway doing well, just needs to listen more which is the sameold  story every time we go to parents evening. But his handwriting is improving and he likes to be set a challenage when it comes to his reading. He is very helpful when it comes to organisation in his classroom wish he was more like that at home! But all in all they are both progressing well. Just need to make an appointment to get Alfie's eye's tested as Miss Gleaves thinks he can not see the board from the back of the class room!

Holby City being recorded as Phil and Alfie are watching football, so i think i will get on and read my book which is taking me forever to read!
